Steinbeis Papier supports the 13th German Sustainability Award

Glückstadt, 16 December 2020 – Does the current pandemic present a real opportunity for greater sustainability? Steinbeis Papier GmbH thinks so. The market leader in graphic recycled paper therefore gave its backing to the German Sustainability Award on 3 and 4 December in Düsseldorf as a sponsor and was present for the first time with a virtual exhibition stand. As a pioneer in sustainability matters, Steinbeis Papier has been committed to protecting the climate and conserving resources for over 40 years. The family-run company uses resource-friendly, low-emission and energy-efficient processes to produce recycled paper from 100% recovered paper in one of Europe’s most modern factories.

The successful medium-sized company has geared its entire business model towards sustainability – from the procurement of recovered paper involving short journeys in the region to the production process using green energy and the final products featuring the Blue Angel environmental label. ‘A growing number of people want to do something themselves for a more sustainable future. Our recycled paper is an important step in this regard and, above all else, one that is easy to take,’ said Veronika Warmers, head of marketing. ‘With our printing paper, copy paper and offset and digital printing paper, we want to offer people an alternative with which they can demonstrate their commitment to greater sustainability.’

However, climate change has taken a back seat as a result of the current pandemic. ‘That is why we made a conscious decision to support this year’s German Sustainability Award as a sponsor and set up our very own virtual exhibition stand. We take the view that the issues surrounding sustainability, the climate and the conservation of resources are too important to put off,’ explained Veronika Warmers. Many of the speakers at the German Sustainability Congress also see the pandemic as an opportunity to initiate a real transformation process in society and the world of business – leading to greater sustainability and social justice.

As an important employer in the Glückstadt region, Steinbeis Papier is also aware of its social responsibility and proud of the fact that many employees have been part of the success for decades. ‘We are a family-run company and we know from many years of experience that the best way of achieving great things is by working together. This especially applies when it comes to creating a more sustainable future. As such, we are delighted that so many brilliant companies and start-ups have got involved in the German Sustainability Award, not least award winners like Hamburg-based Bracenet GmbH, the food manufacturer Frosta, and Prof. Ugur Sahin and Dr Özlem Türeci, who were presented with the honorary award for developing the first coronavirus vaccine.’
